More Than Lessons, A Path to the Stage

A Detroit-based program helping young artists build confidence through mentorship, performance, and real-world experience.

A Detroit-based music education organization creating opportunities for middle and high school students through mentorship, workshops, and live performance. With a focus on confidence and real-world experience, the program helps young artists develop their skills while connecting to the city’s rich musical culture.

The work began with a clear gap. After seeing the lack of access to music education in local schools, the founder set out to create something more accessible, more personal, and more impactful. What started as a response to that need has grown into a mentorship-driven program grounded in both artistic development and personal growth.

What sets the program apart is its emphasis on experience. Students don’t just learn, they perform. Through small group mentorship and hands-on opportunities, they build confidence in a supportive environment designed to prepare them for real stages, real audiences, and real creative paths.

At its core is a commitment to developing the next generation of artists while making music education more accessible across the community. Supporting this event was a natural extension of that mission, reflecting a shared belief in the power of arts education and a desire to be part of something meaningful.

Building on its work with middle and high school students, the program offers private lessons and group workshops with a focus on vocal coaching and performance preparation. Currently enrolling new students, new participants are invited to mention this listing and receive 10% off their first session.
